The TDSN5200 is a distance sensor equipped with the latest ToF element by STMicroelectronics, Inc. Although extremely compact, it can measure the distance to an object from 1cm up to 6m.

Features

A simple laser distance sensor that can acquire distances to targets in real-time, measured in millimeters.
Compared to ultrasonic distance sensors, it offers advantages such as smaller size, a narrower field of view (18°), and the ability to install a cover glass in front of the sensor.
Multiple devices can be controlled from a single PC, with the capability to connect dozens of devices using a USB hub.
Simple control commands are provided for Windows and Linux, making it easy to integrate into applications.
The utility software "TD-AppKit" allows for real-time graph drawing and data logging/output in CSV format (Windows only).
This is a domestically designed product. Mass production, customization, and support are available.

How to Use Control Commands

Retrieving distance
> td-usb tdsn5200 get
310  ← Returns an integer in millimeters. If out of range, 65535 is returned.

Repeatedly retrieve distance every 2.5 seconds

Precautions

The maximum measurable distance may vary based on the infrared reflectance of the target. Practically, it ranges from 3 to 5 meters.
Consider an ultrasonic distance sensor (IWS520-USB) for measurements over a broader range.
Consider using a motion sensor (IWS600-CM, etc.) for applications involving human motion detection.
